It is the mission of Teatro Vista’s Educational Outreach Program to introduce the power of theatre to students in public, parochial and private schools. We strive to ensure that children from all backgrounds have access to the arts. Each year we provide hundreds of discounted and complimentary tickets to underprivileged and underserved students. Our shows feature a predominately diverse cast.

by William Shakespeare

Through the hate of warring factions, in defiance of their families and in secrecy from their closest friends, an ill-fated young couple risks all they have to be together. We perform Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy of star-crossed lovers with resounding life, passion, laughter, tears, sword fighting and, perhaps, the most romantic poetry in all of literature!

What Critics Are Saying:

“The characters and their acting were phenomenal.” - Sarah M., student

“…this was his firs play…he only took this class as a fill-in. He had no interest in theatre, but you helped open his eyes. Thanks for all that you did.”  Teacher, South Elgin High School

by Candido Tirado

Momma’s Boyz is about three inner city friends magically given a second chance to revisit their decision to get quick money selling drugs. Packed with poetic energy, Momma’s Boyz is a cautionary tale with a spirit of hope. The laughs and the pathos blend to make for a most engaging dose of urban theatre.

Momma’s Boyz is suitable for high school audiences.

What Critics Are Saying:

“Honest, moving and determined…that’s the strength of a show that you find yourself hoping some at-risk students will be able to find their way to see.” - Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune

“The trio of gifted actors makes the most of things as they deploy the boys’ wonderfully warped and clever pop culture references and easy interplay.” - Hedy Weiss, Chicago Sun-Times
