DR. Young Kim

BIO

Young Kim is Associate Professor and Head of Classics and Mediterranean Studies, with an additional appointment in History, at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a historian of the ancient Mediterranean world broadly, with specific teaching and research interests in Late Antiquity, late ancient Christianity, and Byzantine Studies. Prior to his arrival at UIC, he worked for the Onassis Foundation USA, where he was involved in public benefit work at the intersection of the arts, humanities, and public outreach, especially in partnership with cultural institutions in New York City. He is currently writing a book about ancient Cyprus, but is also editing a collection of essays on the life and work of Luis Alfaro.
