Ricardo Gutierrez

Ricardo is the Executive Artistic Director of Teatro Vista where he has directed A View From The Bridge, Momma’s Boyz, i put the fear of mexico in’em, and La Magica Posada.  Gutierrez has served as the Artistic Director of Nosotros in Los Angeles, The Canterbury Theatre in Indiana, and Absolute Shakespeare in Chicago.

Regionally, Ricardo has guest directed at Theatre 40, Nosotros, the Bilingual Foundation of the Arts, The Double Image Theatre, Loyola University and the University of Texas Pan Am. Gutierrez is the co-founder and Director of the Alliance of Latino Theatre Artists Chicago (ALTAchicago), a service organization dedicated to promoting and fostering Latino/a theatre artists in Chicago. 

As a producer, he has hired, supervised and evaluated artistic personnel for over one hundred theatrical productions.

As an actor, Gutierrez most recently appeared in the world premiere of The Upstairs Concierge at the Goodman Theatre where he was also recently seen in the world premieres of Song For The Disappeared and Fishmen. Gutierrez has appeared on stage at the Actors Theatre in Louisville, The Denver Center Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Victory Gardens Theatre, and at Lookingglass Theatre.

Sylvia Lopez joined Teatro Vista in January 2017. Since joining the company, she was the Executive Producer of Sandra Delgado’s smashing hit La Havana Madrid which sold-out productions at Steppenwolf Theatre’s 1700 Theatre, The Miracle Center and The Goodman Theatre - becoming the highest selling show in Teatro Vista’s history and The Goodman’s Owen Theatre’s best-selling show in that time slot. Other productions include Fade, a Co-Production with Victory Gardens, The Madres and American Jornalero. She has a 17+ years track record of experience in producing successful event, concerts & productions including The Chicago Latino Film Festival.

Last November, she launched ARTE in Pilsen, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating, developing and producing Latinx art in all its forms including music, theatre, culinary arts, wine, etc. This year, Sylvia was selected as one of Newcity's Players - the 50 leaders of Chicago’s Theater, Dance, Opera and Comedy Culture of 2019 ranking #13 on the list.
